Monkey see, Monkey eat! We trekked up to the Twin Cities this week to enjoy the neighborhoods we miss so much. This time around we mainly visited the St. Paul area, specifically the Cathedral Hill neighborhood. If you have a fondness for historic communities, then you'll love Cathedral Hill. And if you like sandwiches and soup, then you should stop in at the Cheeky Monkey Deli.

. . .

If you ever check out the Cheeky Monkey, get the Meatloaf Sandwich. I'm serious. Unless you don't eat meat. Then stay away from it, but don't fret because they have some delicious-looking options for the veggies out there too. Like the pressed swiss cheese, grass-fed gouda, provolone, caramelized onions on ciabatta sandwich or the grilled seasonal vegetables, hummus on ciabatta sandwich.

Hmmm...you're hungry now aren't you?

Hunky St. Paul firefighters have their own calendar for charity. Why not local food pros? We certainly aren't lacking in hotties. If we were in charge of the project, here are 12 we would choose -- one for each month of the year.

excerpt:

Crinkly, wrinkly, spiky kale tends to look more like something you should use to scrub a toilet bowl than serve on the dinner table. (Its image wasn't helped by the nearly nude Powderhorn May Day Parade participants who used kale leaves as strategically placed covering.) For many, it's one of those things that you know is good for you, but it's hard to bring yourself to eat. So here's how you become one of the few who's been let in on kale's cult secret: order it at Cheeky Monkey. Kale is one of several sides served at the classy St. Paul sandwich shop and makes a perfect pairing to a Cuban or a muffuletta. The kitchen blanches the leafy greens and then sautés them in olive oil with garlic and lemon. From prickly to perfect in just a few minutes--giving you just enough time to order seconds.
